How Creative Startups grow together
On a bright Sunday morning, five creative startups met at a huge warehouse in NE Minneapolis on a mission to capture on camera the newest collection of our fashionable eyewear accessories.
Truth: team work makes the dream work. The excitement was tangible as the cameras clicked away and models spun slowly to showcase their eyewear style. It is an amazing feeling as a founder of a small brand to collaborate with passionate people who stay focused and have fun doing it! I am so excited to share the content created!
Who were these talented start-ups? The team came from Duo Collective, EverNorth Media, Wild Hare Salon, and Porte Modeling Agency. Each is a small business with less than 3 employees, and they brought to the table infinite hope and creative talent that makes our eyewear accessories really shine!
Never underestimate the talent of a startup. These aren't novices at their craft nor are they acting as employees of a big company. For one thing, they have the guts to start a business. Here is a list of reasons that small creative businesses build better brands:
1. Startups are easier to reach. Red tape and the admin round-around aren't part of interacting with a start-up. Obviously, we can't afford staff for all this. But more importantly, as a start-up, we put our genuine selves into our businesses and want to get to know clients and customers. You'll be treated like #1 because you just might be the first client on their way to having great success.
2. Startups are less expensive. I want the best creative team to promote my glasses accessories, but there is NO WAY I'm dishing out thousands for a strategy meeting. Fellow startups understand the struggle. You can find them on Craigslist, through a random acquaintance, or on the 4th page of a Google search. The best thing you can do to save money is not settle for the companies that pay for ads on the first page!
3. Startups are passionate! Small-time creatives aren't doing this for the money (yet)! We fuel the hustle with hope, courage and love for what we do. The founders of the companies I work with have big dreams and call their business baby. When we collaborate, we inspire each other: as photographers, videographers, models and designers. It is basically a productive party!
I love showing off my eyewear accessories and always get comments out on the street... now its time to get it out there and I'm so thankful to have help! Working with marketing teams and creatives is the key to getting our fabric glasses retainers and other eyewear styles out to the world!
